Exceedingly few decking or siding products can claim to be 100% natural and 100% biodegradable. Brazilian Hardwoods will check all the important boxes for your next project.
When freshly milled and before oxidation, the wood is a vibrant purple that turns to a rich reddish brown with exposure to UV light. Purple heart decking has a unique characteristic in that the sap becomes exposed along the grain lines as it acclimates. This sap is soft to the touch, not tacky and is less than 1/8” wide. The sap dries and flakes off of the wood within 2 months after installation. If the wood is allowed to gray, the grain lines remain accented because of this sap. This effect leaves beautiful grain character that can is unique to Purpleheart.
